My Story
Details are definitely my specialty—letters, words, spelling, grammar, numbers, mathematics, etc. Regardless of the field, I don’t shy away from the rules. In fact, I make it my business to learn them all and then follow them faithfully. This adherence comes in very handy considering the irregularities of the English language.
Truthfully, I’ve been proofreading and editing as far back as I can remember. It’s simply the way that I look at everything that I see in print. The natural process goes something like this: read, process, improve or correct as necessary—repeat. That’s about it. When it was money or structural steel detailing, numbers were the subject matter. When it came to educating my children in English grammar and syntax, letters became the focus. At the same time, I completed my first fictional novel as a hobby, admittedly having very little knowledge of the “proper” publishing process. That was ten years ago, and I’ve learned a lot since then!
The completion of the Proofread Anywhere General Proofreading Theory & Practice course helped me to fine-tune the endless grammar rules that I had already been using. It also ensured that I am aware of the current practices of the writing community. And I have continued to expand my knowledge in this field, more recently working my way through the Proofread Anywhere Transcript Proofreading Theory & Practice.
